Devotions:

Psalm 133:1: “Look at how good and pleasing it is when families live together as one.”

Devotional:   Faith and Family

God’s gift of the family is so precious because it is the unit to which His grace comes to shelter and protect us from outside temptations and evil challenges. This is true not only for our personal families but for our church family too. Galatians 6:2 instructs families to lean on each other and be there for one another both in the good and the bad.

When we think about family life, children are a vital part of the family unit. And so it is at Cross of Christ that children and young adults are such an important and valued part of our church family and its future. Isn’t it wonderful that Pastor Dana has chosen to assure that our youth taking their first communion ALL have the opportunity to do so by accommodating their individual family’s schedule! And Cade  was able to receive his senior quilt today because his family will not be available next Sunday which is the official Senior Recognition Sunday.

Family units grow closer as they face hardships together, celebrate together; share the good, bad and ugly with each other because they are all in it together. We can all be so proud of our Cross of Christ family when we face hardships and challenges together such as members’ health issues or the aches and pains and somewhat brokenness of our aging building facility. The current fund raising campaign for new carpet in the fellowship hall is a good example of facing challenges together. We frequently celebrate together; like today when Taya and Keahna received their first communion. Every Sunday after announcements and before worship we celebrate special occasions in our members’ lives. How cool is that! That’s what families do, and our church family and faith is better for it.

Let us pray:

Loving Father, we thank you for your numerous blessings and we pray for the well-being of our personal families and our church family. Thank you for our faith in You that brings us confidence, peace and joy in knowing that together we are stronger as a family.

In thy Holy Name we pray, AMEN.

2024 grad.seniors.jpg

Graduating seniors picked out their quilts made lovingly by the Cross of Christ Quilt Club. This tradition has existed for many years. Perhaps some of the parents remember getting their quilt.

The Quilt Club makes well over a hundred quilts each year and gives them to graduating seniors, sells some and gives the majority to Lutheran World Relief.
